Synopsis: Wyrmwood Apocalypse 2022 tries to stop his half-zombie sister Brooke (Bradey) from attacking two armed women, Maxi (Barnes-Cowen) and Grace (Zalar). This attempt failed, unfortunately, and someone got a little bit and Barry ended up with a foot-long spear shot into his right hand. This turn of events changes the whole course of action for everyone, including military man Rhys (McKenzie), who is still gathering uninfected humans for the Army in hopes of finding a cure. At least, that’s what the task says he does. From the moment Rhys wakes up, it’s an everyday tale of splatter and gunshots as he starts his morning as a zombie apocalypse survivor. First, he exercised and took his antiviral. Since zombie breath can be used as fuel—the coolest concept ever—he makes sure all the undead are currently well-fed and angry enough to power everything from his truck engine to his sprinklers. He led them around at a safe distance with a snare pole around his neck and crammed a birdcage on the heads of captured zombies so he could practice hand-to-hand combat without having to worry about being bitten. The whole setting plunged me into the story, and I was ready to believe whatever happened next.
