Synopsis: Rumspringa 2022 is a rare film about an emotionally complex male friendship. And that alone makes this film absolutely beautiful to watch. When Jacob arrives in Berlin, first, he misplaces his sack in someone else’s taxi and only has a card with a QR code to find it. Not that he knows what a QR code is. Second, she meets a man she thinks is Amish because of the beard and hat he wears, Alf (East Bartels). When they first met, Alf was very rude to Jacob and only offered to help Jacob because the girl he had sex with, Freja (Tijan Marei) convinced him. But what developed from there was just wonderful. The two go on an emotional journey together where both characters learn from each other. Not just the way the world is with each other. Of course, there are necessary moments where Jacob drinks and breaks all his Amish rules, and Alf is briefly castrated by his inability to cut trees whereas Jacob is an expert. I can’t speak of the accuracy or sensibility with which Amish’s life is portrayed, but it certainly lends itself to some very funny moments.
